The 2010 Range Rover is a considerable step forward for what is already regarded as one of the worlds most complete luxury vehicles. New engines provide formidable power, efficiency and customary Range Rover refinement, with new technologies delivering world firsts. Improved Performance
Pride of place on the 2010 Range Rover goes to the brand new 510PS 5.0-litre supercharged LR-V8 petrol engine. The engine was developed in-house by the Jaguar Land Rover powertrain team, with the requirements of the Range Rover in mind from day one. The LR-V8 engine has been developed to deliver more power and refinement, but not at the expense of fuel consumption and emissions. The LR-V8 improves fuel consumption by 7.3 percent to 19mpg on the EU cycle and CO2 emissions by 7.4 percent to 348g/km, despite substantial increases in both power to 510PS (+29 percent) and torque to 625Nm (+12 percent), compared with its 4.2-litre Supercharged predecessor. The popular diesel derivative continues to be powered by the acclaimed 272PS 3.6-litre TDV8 and also benefits from upgrades to the design and under-the-skin modifications.

Updated Infotainment Systems
There are also a number of other key infotainment upgrades including a new hard-drive navigation system providing faster route calculation, larger area map coverage and improved reliability and a new Portable Audio Interface allowing connectivity to an array of personal audio storage devices such as USB sticks and MP3 players, enabling the various devices functions to be accessed and controlled via the facia-mounted touch-screen system. 2010 Land Rover LR4 Review
To distance itself from the Discovery name, which conjured thoughts of unreliability among some, Land Rover changed the name of U.S.-bound Discos to LR3 when the latest model debuted for 2005. For 2010, the model has again acquired a new nameits now the LR4on account of a host of changes and 1300 new parts. Like the other V-8powered Land Rovers, the LR4 retires the 4.4-liter in favor of Jaguars new 5.0-liter direct-injection V-8 that here boosts output from 300 hp and 315 lb-ft of torque to a far more serious 375 hp and 375 lb-ft. Acceleration is said to have improved substantially, with a claimed 060 time of 7.5 seconds (our long-term LR3 did the 060 run in as quickly as 8.6). Maximum towing capacity stays the same, at over 7700 lb.

Walkaround
On the outside, the functional look and the sheetmetal of the LR3 remain. The exterior styling changes are limited to new headlights, grillwork, bumpers, and taillights. LEDs are now found front and rear. Inside, the upright center console and the two-tier glove box elements are similar, but the dashboard is new and shares some of its switchgear with the Range Rover Sport. The only carry-over items on the dash are the round vents. Under the skin, the LR4 has received a number of suspension changes. They include a wider track front and rear, suspension knuckles that lower the roll center, larger anti-roll bars, and revised bushings and shocks. The goal was to improve handling and reduce body roll while improving the ride. Other alterations include the addition of a roll sensor to the stability-control systemwhich also gains a trailer-towing algorithmand new variable-ratio steering that quickens as the wheel is turned off-center. Larger brakes adapted from the Range Rover Sport with four-piston front calipers aim to keep the additional power from overwhelming the LR4.

2010 Land Rover LR2 Review
The LR2 is Land Rover's entry- level luxury SUV, offering a combination of excellent off-road capabilities and classic Land Rover creature comforts. The LR2 is available in one well- equipped 5-passenger trim level, the HSE. It is powered by a 230- hp, 3.2-liter inline six-cylinder engine, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission with CommandShift manual shift control; all-wheel drive and Land Rover's unique "Terrain Response" system help the LR2 tackle a wide range of off-road conditions. Standard features include a panoramic sunroof, 19-inch alloy wheels, leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control and an Alpine audio system with 6-disc CD changer. Every LR2 is also equipped with a comprehensive array of safety features, including four-wheel anti-lock brakes with brake assist, electronic stability control with traction control and roll mitigation, seven airbags, front and rear fog lights, rear park assist and tire pressure monitoring. The Land Rover LR2 carries over with minimal changes for 2010. Two new option packages are introduced, both of which include adaptive bi-xenon headlights, Bluetooth wireless connectivity and HD digital/satellite radio.

There's no mistaking the LR2 for anything but a Land Rover.Its design director says the LR2 has 'chiseled lines, chunky good looks and sporty energy.' We'll go along with that, as well as with his other adjectives: 'simple, uncluttered, sculptured, sophisticated, dynamic, refined.' Your neighbors might think it's a Range Rover, although it's 18.6 inches shorter overall and 6.5 inches less high.But its wheelbase is only 6.5 inches less, giving it a total of one less foot of overhangs, which makes it more modern and compact.It also has a cool trapezoidal engine vent on each front fender just under the sideview mirror, a wider body- colored C-panel, black door handles, and outstanding 12-spoke spidery 18-inch wheels in silver alloy.Sleeker horizontal rectangular headlamps.As a package, it's the best looking and best proportioned Land Rover out there, although the LR3 (bigger than an LR2 and smaller than a Range Rover) is also very tidy.We just wish the LR2's silver plastic grille were black, and didn't look like its pattern was designed in about 10 minutes.The LR3 has by far the best grille, with body- colored slats. Safety is enhanced by the LR2's monocoque structure, which uses crumple zones and ultra high strength steel to create what Land Rover calls a safety cell.

2010 Land Rover Range Rover Sport Review
The Land Rover Range Rover Sport is a premium SUV that represents a shift in focus for this SUV-oriented luxury brand. While traditional Land Rover models have combined unbeatable off-road performance with the amenities of a luxury sedan, the Range Rover Sport represents Land Rover's first entry into the burgeoning high-performance SUV arena. It is designed to offer sporty road manners and traditional Land Rover luxury without completely sacrificing the go-anywhere abilities of other Land Rover models. Despite its name, the Land Rover Range Rover Sport is actually a modified and shortened version of the Land Rover LR3. As such, the Sport is the smallest and most nimble SUV in the company's lineup. Overall, it is an enjoyable and luxurious vehicle to drive as well as look at. Shoppers seriously interested in getting maximum on-road performance out of an SUV would probably be better served by a few of this Land Rover's competitors, however, as they are able to deliver better acceleration and handling.

Walkaround
The Range Rover Sport is offered in two trim levels. The HSE is equipped with a 4.4-liter V8 that develops 300 horsepower and 315 pound-feet of torque. The Supercharged model is equipped with a 4.2-liter V8 that, logically, employs a supercharger to produce 390 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque. However, the relatively high curb weights put a damper on performance and fuel economy for both models. Both engines are backed by a six-speed automatic transmission that offers three modes: automatic, sport and CommandShift (manual mode). Handling performance is a definite step up from other Land Rover models. The Range Rover Sport is the first Land Rover to offer the company's Dynamic Response suspension system, which is standard on the Supercharged model and optional on the HSE. Land Rover says that this computer-controlled system senses cornering forces and automatically adjusts the antiroll bars to optimize body control and handling. Dynamic Response works as advertised, giving the Range Rover Sport a more agile feeling when the roads get twisty, as compared to previous Land Rovers. Off road performance is still within the Range Rover Sport's repertoire as well. A permanent four-wheel-drive system with a two-speed transfer case is standard, and features an electronically controlled, infinitely variable locking center differential that automatically distributes the available torque to both drive axles as needed. Additionally, the Range Rover Sport's Terrain Response System assures that the driver will be up to nearly any off-road task. It offers five different settings that adjust throttle response, gearchanges, vehicle ride height and the differentials to optimize mobility in varying environments, ranging from pavement to sand.

Summary
Land Rover is also synonymous with luxury, which doesn't take a backseat in the Range Rover Sport. Just about any premium feature that you will find on most luxury sedans, or any of its luxury SUV competitors, is available on the Range Rover Sport. The same holds true for safety items, with the usual complement of airbags and electronic crash-prevention aids.

2008 Land Rover Range Rover Sport Review
The 2008 Land Rover Range Rover Sport offers a commanding driving position and elevated stadium seating, which give both driver and passengers a clear view of the road. The dash is simple and elegant, with minimalist switchgear that requires little driver input. However, many of the buttons look alike, and some are tricky to reach. The soft, supple leather seats will fit four adults comfortably, although a fifth could squeeze into the center rear seat if need be. Taller occupants might find themselves with limited headroom and could feel as if the rear headrests dig into their backs if not raised. Cargo space maxes out at 71 cubic feet, which is average for this class. However, the Sport's sloping rear glass limits the ability to load large or bulky items.

Walkaround
The 2008 Range Rover Sport is a midsize SUV available in HSE and Supercharged trim levels. The HSE comes standard with 19-inch wheels, a sunroof, bi-xenon headlights, auto-dimming rearview mirrors, an adjustable air suspension, front and rear parking sensors, cruise control, power front seats with driver memory settings, a power tilt and telescoping steering column, leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, Bluetooth, a navigation system and a 14-speaker Harman Kardon Logic 7 stereo with a six-CD changer and an auxiliary jack. An optional Cold Climate package includes a heated windshield, heated washer jets and heated front and second-row seats. A Luxury package includes the cold climate package and adds adaptive headlights, walnut trim, premium leather upholstery and a cooler box. The Supercharged trim comes standard with 20-inch wheels, Brembo front brakes (both of which are optional on the HSE) and everything on the HSE with the luxury package plus a unique grille and upholstery, satellite radio and the Dynamic Response suspension system, which enhances on-road and off-road handling. The HST Limited Edition package adds different 20-inch wheels, a unique grille, an extended rear roof spoiler, specialized front and rear bumpers, adaptive cruise control and exclusive leather upholstery. Stand-alone options include a rear differential lock, various wheel styles, upgraded leather upholstery and a rear-seat entertainment system with LCD screens mounted in the front headrests. Adaptive cruise control is optional on the Supercharged only.

Summary
A hefty curb weight keeps the base HSE Range Rover Sport from winning any awards, whether on the drag strip, through the slalom or at the gas pump. The torquey Supercharged version, however, does a much better job living up to the Sport's higher-performance image. In our opinion, this is the only trim level that can truly match the performance of the Sport's highly capable competitors. The 4.2-liter V8 offers plenty of power, and the Sport's chassis and suspension deliver a smooth ride and responsive handling -- thanks in part to the Dynamic Response system.

A Jaguar-sourced touch screen infotainment and navigation system greatly simplifies the interior and cuts down on the number of buttons, although Jags system isnt exactly fast-acting and can be a bit frustrating to use. The cabin retains its airy and upright feel, but improved materials and the updated electronics lend the LR4 a more modern and expensive appearance. Seven-passenger seating remains optional, and automatic high-beam headlamps and an Infiniti-like five-camera surround view system are newly available. Under the skin, the LR4 has received a number of suspension changes. They include a wider track front and rear, suspension knuckles that lower the roll center, larger anti-roll bars, and revised bushings and shocks. The goal was to improve handling and reduce body roll while improving the ride. Other alterations include the addition of a roll sensor to the stability-control systemwhich also gains a trailer-towing algorithmand new variable-ratio steering that quickens as the wheel is turned off-center. Larger brakes adapted from the Range Rover Sport with four-piston front calipers aim to keep the additional power from overwhelming the LR4.
